2012 prius

Yes — I would seriously go look at this one in Perrysburg. The combination is unusually attractive for the kind of inexpensive second car you’ve been looking for:

  • 2012 Prius c Three

  • 71,686 miles — very low for a 14-year-old car

  • $10,000

  • 2 keys

  • No reported accidents

  • Warranty included

And importantly, this is the Prius c, the smaller hatchback, not the larger regular Prius. The listing’s AI description appears to have incorrectly called it a “Prius c Four”; the actual description says Three.

The $10,000 price

I’d call it a little high, but not crazy if the condition and warranty are excellent.

KBB’s current figures put a 2012 Prius c Three around $8,450 fair purchase price, with private-party values roughly $6,360–$8,210 depending on condition.

However, 71,686 miles is substantially below the mileage on most 2012 examples, so I wouldn’t compare this directly with an ordinary 120–150K-mile Prius c.

I’d be thinking:

$8,000–$9,000 = very interesting

$9,000–$10,000 = reasonable if exceptionally clean + good warranty

$10,000+ = I’d want the warranty to be genuinely useful and the car to pass an independent inspection

The BIG thing I would check

The hybrid battery.

The car is now 14 years old. Toyota originally covered the hybrid components for 8 years/100,000 miles in the applicable warranty structure, so the original factory hybrid warranty is long gone.

That’s not necessarily bad. A Prius c with only 72K miles could have plenty of life left. But I would not buy this one based solely on “no accidents” and low mileage.

Before handing over $10,000, I’d want:

  1. VIN

  2. Carfax/AutoCheck

  3. Exact written terms of the warranty

  4. Hybrid-battery diagnostic

  5. Scan for stored/pending trouble codes

  6. Brake inspection

  7. Tire age and tread

  8. 12V battery test

  9. Check underneath for rust

  10. Cold start and a good 20–30 minute drive

And there’s a very good way to handle Perrysburg

I’d tell the seller:

“I’m seriously interested. Before purchasing, I’d like to have it inspected by an independent Toyota/hybrid mechanic. If it checks out, I’m prepared to buy it.”

You could also take it to Yark Toyota in Maumee for a Toyota-specific inspection/diagnostic. It’s at 1377 Conant St.

That would actually be very convenient from Perrysburg.

One other thing I like about this particular car for you

For your stated purpose — a cheap second car that needs to reliably make the 3-mile trips around Fremont/Perrysburg/Toledo and doesn’t need to be fancy — the Prius c makes a lot of sense.

It’s small, exceptionally economical, hatchback, automatic, and Toyota hybrid technology. And at only 71K miles, you’re buying mileage rather than merely buying an old car.

I would not send $10,000 without inspection, though.

If you give me the Facebook Marketplace link or the VIN, I can dig much deeper into this exact car — including what the warranty actually covers and whether $10K makes sense compared with other Prius c’s currently for sale around Toledo/Northern Ohio.
