Seated is my Grandfather Robert Clark Earl with his sisters.
As a boy of about ten years of age it is hard to comprehend the depth of your great Aunt but I knew it was a big deal when Aunt Anna came to visit. My grandma Hazel Marett Earl always emphasized the importance of education. She also encouraged me to pursue music. Aunt Anna had gone to Oberlin College and had studied music and was considered like the scholar of the family.

Oberlin Conservatory of Music as advertised in 1920.
My mother, Edna Earl Smith (not the Edna above that's her Aunt) talked about how she was working on mathematical forms. She would come to hear me play the piano. I remember her clear penetrating eyes behind reading glasses attached with a strap. I can remember her face similar to the photo even though she was now like 65. Aunt Anna carried the air of a cultural highly refined women prefers beyond my grasp at the time.
Her legacy continued when my sister Anna probably named after her studied poetry at College. My sister, Alice Smith would go to Oberlin College also.
It appears her daughter Alice Martin followed in her footsteps.
