Apparently Orchard street Lower East Side (LES) once was an orchard.

But nowadays it seems the thing growing there is Art Galleries. So one could flaneur down Orchard street looking at art instead of apple blossoms.
One might find the beautiful cosmic space art of Hariclia Michailidou at the Artifact Gallery or the botanical art at Foley Gallery.

A good stroll street has to have a critical mass of interesting shops like: a good coffee shop (Irving Farm Coffee Roasters) , an interesting boutique (Tictail Market) a good restaurant with outdoor seating (Dudley's) , a bookstore, an art museum (Tenement Museum has a nice bookstore) and an ice cream shop. Vegans can go to Erin McKenna bakery or Dirt Candy on Allen street while foodies go to Pickle Guys on Grand street. There is also Orchard Grocer which has Miyoko cheese and Tache Artisan Chocolate on Broome street.
There is vietnamese food at An Choi.
If you want coffee with books and a longer walk you can walk to McNally Jackson Books at 52 Prince st past the New Museum.
There is also The Butcher's Daughter for vegan food at 19 Kenmare st.
If you want a side trip to Chinatown you just walk over to Eldridge street and get dumplings at Vanessa Dumplings ( though probably better for nonvegetarians)

Pickle Guys as they reached the big time moved to Grand Street
