Removing the shoe from the temple By Hafez Once someone asked me, "Why do saints seek divine annihilation And are often humble And like to spend their free time upon their knees?" I replied, "It is simply a matter of etiquette." Then they said, "What do you mean, Hafiz?" "Well, I continued, "When one goes into a mosque or temple Is it not common to remove what Covers your feet? So too does it happen With this whole mind and body- That is something like a shoe sole- When one begins to realize Upon Whom you are really standing, One begins To remove the 'shoe' from the Temple."

Here Hafez likens rising above body consciousness to just good manners.
One can look quotes from a cross section of sources to provide inspiration for essay writing. I comically call that the quotationist philosopher.

In the so-called death of God times the modern era now they don't talk about divine annihilation but:
"Cultivating a present-state awareness that helps you to be nonreactive"
From Tim Ferriss Tools of Titans
Present-state awareness is the new term for meditation while nonreactive the new term for not being angry.
Now it is fashionable to get ahead via meditation or mindfulness. mindfulness has even gone corporate.
These corporately mindful persons perhaps think they will get wealthier or healthier from it.
But using ten minutes of mindfulness to get to two or three ipos does not seem as intense or deep as Hafez was.
Hafez used love of God to achieve his great things more like Mother Teresa.
Which is where I bring in Mother Teresa.

"In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love"
