Is considered by Jon Kabat-Zinn as “the book that started it all” 

Although written in 1954 it seems a current book as almost everything in that it is universal as perhaps is the teachings of Buddha himself referred as “the Master” - as he is also alive. 

The book is a foundation classic of vipassana Mindfulness Meditation and appears on the list of recommended reading of the Insight Meditation Society

The book way back in 1954 proposes that western civilization needs “Houses of Stillness” on page x
