I am pleased I gained self-oblivion

It is natural to have lines and phrases of your Guru stick in your head. It can be only a good thing.

This line has a lot in it.  There is tremendous bliss inside annihilation so it is not surprising to be pleased with it.  Perhaps the very phrase has ecstatic bliss in it.

But for some reason in my mind I quote it wrong adding the my. I guess my self-oblivion is a lesser Self-oblivion of that of the great saint Sant Darshan Singh.  I can only hope to move in his direction.

I quote the whole Urdu poem:

Poem 29: I am pleased I gained self-oblivion My heart in burning at least lent light to my life, Revived was the garden from the weeping of the dew.

Blessed are they who attain to the top of the gallows; Dying as martyrs, they gain everlasting life.

When I faced my friend, I lost all trace of self. I am pleased I gained self-oblivion.

Why grieve that my heart's desire bled to death? I rejoice she gained renown for vanquishing hearts!

I cherish one religion _ love for humankind: It inspires man with the spirit of service.

Leaving mosque and temple, I entered the city of the heart And exult: Of love’s grief at least , I received the light!

Darshan, all good befall her! When she broke my heart, A life-long sorrow honed my poetic art. Love’s Last Madness Darshan Singh Translated by Barry Lerner and  Harbans Singh Bedi

189. Love came and said that I should be only with it, that I should avoid being sensible, steady, intellectual. So love and I kept visiting, back and forth, until now. I did not go home. I live here now, inside this new annihilation.

Luohan said, “I can’t tell you.”

The monk said, “Why not?”

Luohan said, “Because it’s my home style.”
