After a really long time sitting, western man can finally see the Eastern Sun rising. Because he is busy all the time, he has very little real quiet time, so it becomes hard for him to experience the Sublime. It is systematic not moving that makes your a true Monk not an elegantly constructed cloister. You have to become a purposeful quiet time manufacturer. It is sad to think there is no hope without Grace. You can from your own effort give it a try. You can begin your day already a success if you meditate first. You can come down from the mountain at ten o’clock like an expert.  Going up early is also lower risk. When I started up Mt Ohara I met the German climbers they were on there way down. They must have thought me a fool to go up in the afternoon with an ice storm coming. Fortunately for me they suggested a shortcut back down. I hope I learned my lesson. From now on when I climb a mountain I start at sunrise. A Poem of David Smith January 30, 2019 #lakeohara #yohonationalpark #britishcolumbia 10am is when you should reach the top of a mountain and start back down. I only climb mildly high mountains like Adirondack peaks.
