As far as I can determine, there is no complete published English translation of Josh Malihabadi’s autobiography, Yaadon Ki Baraat. It remains available primarily in Urdu.

However, there are a few alternatives:

  • An English excerpt titled “My Ordeal as a Citizen of Pakistan” was translated by the historian Mushirul Hasan and included in his anthology on the Partition of India. It covers Josh’s reflections on his migration to Pakistan and the difficult choices surrounding Partition.

  • Some of Josh’s poetry has been translated into English, including collections such as Selected Poetry of Josh Malihabadi and Poems of Josh Malihabadi.

Given your interest in South Asian spirituality, Kabir, and comparative religion, you might also enjoy autobiographical works that are available in English and convey the literary and intellectual atmosphere of the period, such as:

  • A Life in Words by Ismat Chughtai

  • The Argumentative Indian by Amartya Sen (for cultural and historical context)

  • The memoirs and essays of Khushwant Singh, which vividly portray the world before and after Partition.

If your main interest is Yaadon Ki Baraat itself, I can also  summarize it chapter by chapter in English, highlighting Josh’s most memorable stories and observations.
