Poem:

Enlightenment seems to hang in the air, there for the taking for anyone who will sit in contemplation. If this starts happening every day with regular expression then I guess you are either a Master or just a beginner and have become a practitioner. The practice has a certain eloquence with repetition. You can sit still until you get a Zen diploma. You could read the entire Pali canon. William James even quantifies the factors. Sitting in the proper position is very classical and very experiential. Emptiness of Mind may just mean you clean up your mess. It might make sense to visit the Temple. While passing though life you can hang onto the eternal. When your bad karma runs out then your mind comes to a stop. Your soul takes off the body. A Soul you certainly have-don’t be fooled by a simple Buddhist.

Ikkyu Sojun (1394-1481) rejected his “inka” certificate of enlightenment” from his Master page 7 Preface Three Zen Master by John Stevens DS Poem June 12, 2018
