Poem:

Not Meditating is like arrogance.  It is like saying my brain is functioning adequately without it. In reality it needs cooling like a motor. Without meditation it is easily subject to lust, greed and anger. Rumi says in the Masnavi the half-wise fish is still subject to sloth and ignorance. By meditation the half-wise fish ( the disciple) can concentrate his mind on the fully-wise bird ( the Master) and greatly energize his brain in periodic intervals. Otherwise he is caught in the net of the fisherman. He is supposed to follow the fully wise fish out to the ocean not remain where you are by the shore where there is danger. The mystic is like a gambler who puts all of his chips on one spot just in front of his head and then plays dead like Mohammed suggests. While the stupid bird just becames hot and red just like Rumi said. DS Poem December 19, 2018 Masnavi, book four, line 2270
