Poem:

In a sort of reversal of directions: you have decided to go up to heaven today and come down to earth tomorrow. A sort of opposite of most people’s plans. Being in the present is how you travel. The way you repair your brain is instead of complaining about the past is to instead sit perfectly still, do Simran and go into a tunnel, then listen to a symphony. You can be a Third Eye astronomer and look for Big Stars. Being more conscious is like increasing your capital. Mystical experience appears to be cumulative. You can become more saintly by making more frequent your disappearance. If you think of the past at all - think of you initiation or of when the Master downloaded his power in a long glance. The Mind has a tendency to scatter that is why it has to be routinely gathered. Twice a day is better. Five if you are Mohammed. Most of Life is spent first disturbing it then quieting it. It would be better if we just followed Patanjali. That’s why Yoga is a good concept before and after you sleep. They could setup an experimental island where people don’t own anything and meditate for six hours. It could be like reality TV. Yes. The English paraphrase on the page (“If you are not handsome then be Jacob”) captures the basic idea, but some of the richness of Rumi’s Persian is hidden. The crucial verse is: تو که یوسف نیستی
